“Study in Germany without IELTS” is a popular search — and the honest answer is: it depends on the program and how you prove your English.

When you may not need IELTS

  • German-taught programs: you prove German (Goethe/TestDaF/telc/ÖSD), not English.
  • Some universities accept TOEFL, Duolingo, or a Medium-of-Instruction (MOI) letter instead of IELTS.
  • A few programs waive an English test if your prior degree was taught in English.

When you'll still need it

Many English-taught Master's — especially competitive ones — ask for IELTS/TOEFL with a minimum band. Don't assume a waiver: confirm the exact requirement for your target program before applying.

We check each university's current English-proof policy during your eligibility review, so you don't sit an exam you didn't need — or miss one you did.
