Because of the 13-year schooling rule, almost every Indian student bridges the gap one of two ways. Here's how to choose.
Choose Studienkolleg if…
- You want to be in Germany as soon as possible.
- You're comfortable with an intensive prep year ending in the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP).
- You're targeting engineering (the T-Kurs is the common track).
Choose the one-year-in-India route if…
- You're already enrolled in (or starting) a relevant Indian bachelor's.
- You'd rather complete a recognised first year at home, then apply for direct admission.
Both need a minimum 70% in Class XII (from WS 2026/27), German at B2/C1 for most programs, and an APS certificate. The destination degree is identical — only the on-ramp differs.
