Do you need German for a Bachelor's in Germany?
At Master's level, plenty of programs are fully English-taught. At bachelor's level, that's the exception — so budget for German rather than assuming an English option.
What level you'll need
Most German-taught bachelor's programs expect B2 or C1. If you go via Studienkolleg, you'll build toward this during the prep year; if you take the direct-admission route, you'll need the certificate before you apply.
English-taught bachelor's
They exist, but they're limited and competitive. Even in an English-taught program, B1 German makes daily life, part-time work and integration dramatically easier — and it's a requirement for many later steps like the job market.
Our advice: start German early and treat B2 as the working target for a bachelor's plan.
