Anerkennung for nurses: the recognition process, step by step
Anerkennung is the official recognition of your Indian nursing qualification in Germany. It's the bridge between “qualified in India” and “Registered Nurse in Germany.”
How it flows
- Submit certificates and your German certificate (B1 or B2, all 4 modules).
- Employer interview and a confirmed contract (~3 weeks for B1, ~45 days for B2).
- Recognition file submitted and tracked — typically 90–120 days.
- Visa prep runs in parallel with recognition.
What you'll earn during recognition
You earn in Euros from the recognition phase — roughly €2,300–2,900 gross/month — rising to around €3,000–3,800+ once you're a fully Registered Nurse, on regulated pay scales (TVöD-P / AVR).
Recognition ends with the Kenntnisprüfung, which converts your recognised qualification into full RN status.
